“I started singing when I was about 6 years old. My folks who loved music had a
record player and I’d sing along with the records. I was a fan of Frankie Lane,
Patti Page, Johnny Ray, and big band singer Eddy Howard. Then along came
rock’n’roll and Elvis. Paradigm shift! This new sound captivated me. I loved
most all of it, from the Everly Brothers and Jerry Lee Lewis to Fats Domino, and
on and on....
In 1961 I joined the rock ‘n roll band called The Sultans, playing mostly
‘beer-bars’ up around Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh and Fond du Lac.
We
later began playing Marty Zivko’s, Wylers, This Old House and Muskego Beach
opposite the Legends with Sam McCue. We even shared the stage with Conway Twitty
while at Zivko’s.
After a 4 year stint in the Air Force I re-joined the band. With a new name, the
Tumbleweeds, we played the Jolly Fisherman, Nick’s Nicabob, Nick’s Showboat
Lounge, the White Oaks and endless other venues.
In 1971 I had an opportunity to become a solo musician at a Milwaukee
restaurant, Pap’s Saddle & Sirloin, then Chappie’s, the Lakeaire, the El Dorado,
Blue Heron, Gasthaus, and the Mandarin (many names left out.)
I feel blessed that I’ve been allowed to make a living and raise a family just
doing what I love..”

Below is a link to one of
the best pieces of sound engineering work I think I have ever seen. It is a
composite audio/video of song whereby additional tracks were laid in by
different singers and musicians from different places around the world. The
finished product is tremendous!
The song itself
is that classic standard "Stand By Me" originally released in 1955 by The Staple
Singers and released again in 1961 by the Drifters. This composite version is a
real toe tapper.
